Biography

Muhammad Awais Zafar Cheema is a PhD Computer Science Scholar at University of Gujrat and currently working on his thesis. He has obtained his MS in Computer Science degree from International Islamic University, Islamabad, Pakistan and works as a lecturer Computer Science at GIFT University, Gujranwala, Pakistan. Awais Cheema’s background spans a diverse range of disciplines and mediums, prior to joining GIFT University as a permanent faculty member, he served the University of Gujrat as a visiting faculty member for almost two years and the GC University Lahore affiliated college for three years. He has taught more than 20 subjects in the past 8 years as a visiting lecturer in various universities. In addition to teaching as a visiting faculty member, he managed to run a business in Computer hardware sale and purchase and he successfully recovered the lost and formatted data of NADRA back in 2011.  

His research interests center around Text classification and more specifically Text Summarization.  He teaches at both graduate and undergraduate levels. He has a passion to teach courses in Theoretical computer science and electronics subjects. To accomplish his Master’s Thesis work, he traveled to the Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen Germany, where during his one year stay from Nov 2014 – Nov 2015 he got the opportunity to work with Dr. Herald Koestler and developed a new protocol to efficiently handle the free channel allocations in cognitive radio networks. He learned the German language (Level: A2.2) from FAU Erlangen, Germany during his one year stay in Germany as part of hobby to learn different languages.

  • Theoretical Computer Science Subjects (Operating System, Advanced Computer Architecture)
  • Hardware based subjects: (Microprocessor and Assembly Language, Digital Logic Design, Applied Physics, Data Communication and Computer Networks)

Research Interests

  • Machine Learning and Deep Learning (Text mining), Wireless Networks, Cognitive Radio Networks. RISC-V Architecture.
